Yacht parties on the Red Sea

A yacht party is Hurghada's signature night on the water: a DJ on deck, a sunset sailing and a swim stop offshore. Boats fill up fast in high season, so booking ahead matters. Each trip's page shows its price and the details its organizer gives.

What's included and when to arrive

Each yacht page lists the route, the duration and what's included — food, drinks, snorkeling gear. Arrive at the marina at least 30 minutes before departure; the boarding point and time are on your ticket.

How booking works

Pick a night, choose your tickets or table and pay online by card. Your booking is confirmed as soon as the payment goes through and the link to your ticket is emailed to you; your entry code appears on that page on the night, and you show it on your phone at the door. Each event shows its own cancellation window.

Yacht parties at a glance

A yacht party is one of the classic ways to spend a day or an evening on the Red Sea: music on deck, a swim stop over clear water and the coast turning gold at sunset. Around Hurghada and El Gouna there is everything from shared party boats with a DJ to quieter sailings and private charters for a group of friends. This guide covers where the boats leave from, when to go, what to bring and how to get back safely, so you know what to expect before you pick a trip.

Where the boats leave from

In Hurghada, most yacht trips leave from Hurghada Marina, close to Sheraton Road and the El Mamsha promenade, or from other piers along the coast. In El Gouna, boats usually set off from Abu Tig Marina, where many people stay on for dinner afterwards. Many routes head for the reefs and islands off Hurghada, such as the Giftun islands, which lie in a protected marine area. If you are staying in Sahl Hasheesh, south of Hurghada, allow extra time to reach the departure point, or choose a trip that includes a transfer.

When to go

Boats sail all year. The sea is warmest from late summer into autumn, while winter brings cooler water and evenings when you will want a jacket on deck. European visitors fill the boats in the cooler months; in summer and on public holidays it is the turn of holidaymakers from Cairo and the rest of Egypt, and weekends get busy. Day cruises usually leave in the morning and sunset sailings in the afternoon, and some parties carry on after dark. Strong wind can keep small boats in the harbor, so keep your plans a little flexible.

What to wear and bring

Wear swimwear under light clothes and bring a towel, sunglasses, a hat and sunscreen, ideally a reef-safe one. Many boats ask guests to go barefoot on deck, so easy shoes are best. Pack a light layer for the trip back, especially in winter. Carry your passport or ID: passenger details are often checked before boats leave the marina, and party boats may set their own minimum age. If you get seasick, take something before you board, not once you are at sea.

Getting there and back safely

Plan to reach the marina early; the meeting time is usually well before departure, and boats do not wait. If you take a taxi, agree the fare before the ride, or use a ride app. On board, listen to the crew's safety briefing, wear a life jacket at swim stops if you are not a strong swimmer, and never touch or stand on the coral. Drink plenty of water, as the sun on the water is stronger than it feels. After an evening party, arrange your ride home before you set off, and do not swim after drinking alcohol.

What a yacht party costs

Prices vary by boat, route, length of the trip and what is included. A shared trip is usually priced per person, while a private charter is priced for the whole boat. Food, soft drinks, snorkeling gear and hotel transfers may or may not be part of the price, and high season and holidays can push prices up. Rather than trusting one headline number, compare what each trip actually includes.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to be able to swim to join a yacht party?

No. You can stay on deck the whole time. Boats usually carry life jackets for swim stops, and it's worth telling the crew if you're not a confident swimmer.

Which marina do yacht parties leave from?

In Hurghada, most leave from Hurghada Marina or other piers along the coast; in El Gouna, usually from Abu Tig Marina. Where a trip gives its meeting point, it is shown on the trip's page.

What happens if the sea is too rough?

Strong wind can keep small boats in the harbor. What happens to a cancelled sailing depends on the trip's own terms, so read them before you choose a trip.

Can I hire a private yacht for a group?

Many operators run both shared trips and private charters. Check which kind a trip is before you choose it.
