El Gouna is a resort town on the Red Sea, roughly half an hour's drive north of Hurghada, built around lagoons and canals. Most nights out in El Gouna start in one of two places. Abu Tig Marina is the town's yacht harbor, with restaurants, cafés and bars along the quay, and a natural spot for a sunset drink before the night gets going. Downtown, also called Kafr El Gouna, is the town's original center, with restaurants and bars around its squares and lanes. Beyond these, venues on the beaches and lagoons host parties of their own, especially in summer and on holiday weekends. El Gouna is compact, so it's easy to move between places in one evening.
When to go: seasons and party weekends
El Gouna is warm all year, but its party calendar follows the holidays. Summer is hot and busy, with Egyptian holidaymakers filling the town, and long weekends and public holidays are often the biggest dates of all. From autumn to spring, the weather is milder and the town is popular with European visitors, so evenings are often more relaxed. The Egyptian weekend falls on Friday and Saturday, so Thursday and Friday nights tend to be the liveliest. As in Hurghada, nights start late: many parties only really get going around midnight.
What to wear, and ID at the door
El Gouna is relaxed but stylish. For an evening at the marina or Downtown, smart-casual is the safe choice. At beach parties, light summer clothes are normal, but bring something a little smarter if you plan to move on to a club, since some venues turn away beachwear at night. Each venue sets its own minimum age, and staff at the door may ask for proof of age, so carry your passport or national ID card. Getting there and getting home safely
From Hurghada, El Gouna is a drive of roughly half an hour, so plan your ride back before you go out. A taxi or a ride app are the usual options; with a street taxi, agree the fare before the ride, and late at night it can be easier to arrange the return trip in advance. Inside El Gouna, tuk-tuks and local shuttle buses are common ways to get around, and many places are within walking distance of each other. Keep your hotel's name and address on your phone, go out in a group if you can, and drink plenty of water, because summer nights stay hot.

Prices in El Gouna vary by venue, by night and by season, and special dates and holiday weekends often cost more.
